CATEGOREMATIC (κατηγορέω, to predicate).—"A word is so called which may by
itself be employed as a Term. Adverbs, Prepositions, &c, and also Nouns in any
other case besides the Nominative, are Syncategorematic, i.e., can only form
part of a Term" (Whately, Logic, bk. II. ch. I. sec. 3).
